Safe spaces. Where is yours?

Safety is primarily thought of as a space in which we are free from harm, and perhaps from discomfort. However, in this day and age, we are typically not under threat from a physical entity, such as our caveman brothers and sisters. The threats to our safety and comfort primarily come from within — from our thoughts, our self-talk, our stories, our shells we’ve acquired as a protective mechanism.

Sometimes we need to find a safe space from ourselves, while other times, we need to find an energetically safe space, taking a break from the matrix, the relationships, the business that has the potential to bombard us from the outside in.

I was so inspired by a practice member this morning who discussed how her safe space is a library. Any library at all. A space in which she is surrounded by so much knowledge, such vast amounts of wisdom, the quiet, an overwhelming state of ease and introspection. Not to mention a place that is always an escape from the extreme hot or extreme cold.

Let’s all breathe in the feeling of that space together. Ahhhhhh.

When it comes down to it, we are all looking for ways to expand our “library”. To find more safety with greater ease and a larger variety of “places”, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The gift here is that we can have as large of a “library” as we so choose — but that’s the thing, it is something we must CHOOSE and put in WORK to find. These libraries do not often just drop in our laps. We must seek them out, we must get clear on what serves us, and on what does not. Only then can we tap into the abundant “library” that is our very self. When we do that, we come to realize that we are our greatest “library” and that we have always, always, always…been  h o m e  .

This weekend I invite you to spend some time in your “library”. Away from the noise, the work, the chaos. Your library is yours to occupy and it is open and ready for you anytime.
