The Cerebellum Doubles in Size in the First Three Months of Life
did you know that the cerebellum doubles in size in the first three months of life?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the cerebellum is the part of our brain that is responsible for coordinating all of our body's movements and acting as a brake mechanism for our frontal lobe, our executive control center.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
our executive control center is responsible for acting as the break mechansim to our limbic system--our emotional control center.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
we want to emphasize the importance of ensuring that brain and body can have crystal clear communication in the earliest days of life, as there is truly exponential growth that occurs in the newest members of our world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
we want to set them up with the tools to move through this world beautifully and gently--physically, emotionally, and of course, neurologically.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
we want to set them up with the resilience to regulate their emotions, so they can coordinate their movements, no matter how big or how small. that's where life hangs out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
this starts with a clear nervous system.
