The Reality of "Cold and Flu Season"

"cold and flu season"

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

i have some thoughts on that.

if i may…

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

summer is a moment of extroversion, of activity, of buzz, of doing outwardly. the sun, the temperature, the lack of routine fuels that for us.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

and often, we absolutely thrive in that. we experience vitality and endless bouts of energy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

as we shift past ohio's sixth coming of summer and officially wind down in preparation for winter, the natural rhythms of our bodies anticipate the same slowing.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

we no longer have the same degree of sunlight and time outside to fuel our mitochondria. the foods we ate over the summer no longer match the energy our bodies carry to break them down in the same ways. our times of nonexistent routine shift back into one that is much more rigid and orderly.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

so if we maintain our summer pace as the seasons change, wouldn't it be wise to think that if we do not listen to our bodies, they will do something drastic to let us now that they are in need of a slower pace?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

cue symptoms of coughs, colds, and fevers.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

it's not that you are unwell. it is simply that the subtle cues your body has been whispering to you seemingly were not loud enough.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

there is no choice but to communicate a little more...bluntly.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

so in this moment of slowing and change, we are here to support you in getting more of what you need, of going inward, of taking the metaphorical pan off of the heat.
