Well Being of Our Children
one thing we can all come together on is the wellbeing of our children.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
many teachers, parents, and pediatricians may observe an uptick in children with attention challenges. while some are quick to provide a label and a diagnosis of this lack of focus, we would like to invite a different spin to what this may be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
let's talk decreased attention.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
many are quick to label this as ADD and ADHD, however research done by MD Gabor Maté has shown that this perceived lack of focus is actually an adaptation to a stress in the environment, whether that be at school, home, or both.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
our children, from the moment they arrive in our arms, are wicked perceptive. babies and children look to mom and dad for cues fo safety. if mom or dad does not have the capacity to provide these cues of safety mentally, emotionally, or physically, our children learn how to "check out", resulting all too often in a labeling and diagnosis of attention disorders.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
what if they are not disorders at all, but merey an adaptation to an unmet need?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
the amazing thing is that as parents stay committed to the care of their children our office, their capacity to be with themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally grows.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
they show up more fully as who they are and who they always have been.
they are kinder to their siblings.
there are less outbursts at home.
there is more rest.
there are better poops (we're talking potential for textbook here).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
lets help bring them back to being, well, kids.
